Uncle Best

Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 October 2026

Uncle Best (unclebest.app) teaches you to type without looking at the keyboard, with lessons and typing games. It is run by Rotimi Best in Lagos, Nigeria. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

In short: lessons and games work without an account, and your progress stays in your own browser. We only collect personal information if you sign in with Google to join a typing challenge, and analytics only runs if you allow it. We never sell your information.

1. Lessons and games: saved in your browser

Your first name (if you give one), lesson history, best speeds, stars and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us, and clearing your browser's site data removes them.

2. Typing challenges: Google sign-in

To take part in a challenge you sign in with Google. Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture; we do not get your Google password. When you sign in and play, we store:

We use this to run the challenge: to score runs fairly (the server replays the keystrokes), show the leaderboard, prevent cheating, and contact winners about prizes.

What other players see: only your first name, the first letter of your last name, your profile picture and your scores. Your email address is never shown to other players; only the people who run the challenges can see it, so we can contact winners.

3. Analytics, only if you allow it

If you click Allow on the cookie banner, we use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to count anonymous usage, such as page visits, which lessons and games are played, and the resulting speed and accuracy. We do not send your name or the text you type. If you decline, no analytics code is loaded. You can change your choice any time from Privacy & cookies at the bottom of the app.

4. Cookies and local storage

5. Who handles your information

These providers process information on our behalf and may store it outside Nigeria. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and challenge results while you take part, so leaderboards and prize decisions can be checked. Results of past challenges are kept for up to two years, and you can ask us to delete your account and results sooner at any time (see below). Information in your browser stays until you clear it.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information, or to stop using it, by emailing support@unclebest.app from the email address you signed in with. We will reply within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your name and runs from leaderboards. You can also remove Uncle Best's access in your Google account settings, and contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

8. Children

Children are welcome to use the lessons and games, which need no account and collect no personal information. Typing challenges with Google sign-in and prizes are for players aged 13 and over; younger players should only join with a parent or guardian's permission and help. If you believe a child has given us personal information without permission, email us and we will delete it.

9. Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), sign-in cookies are signed and cannot be read by page scripts, and access to email addresses is limited to the challenge organisers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.

10. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app.
